It’s a battle royale! We’ve pitted the LOL Home Sweet Home Dollhouse against the regular LOL dollhouse. How are they different? Which one is better for your little one?
We’ve analyzed both LOL dollhouses and pulled together 5 ways the Home Sweet Dollhouse is different from the regular LOL dollhouse. Read this so you know BEFORE you buy. Check the price of LOL Home Sweet Dollhouse on Amazon.
1. LOL Home Sweet Dollhouse is newer.
The original LOL dollhouse was released in 2018. Home Sweet Home came out at the end of 2020. Essentially, Home Sweet is the updated version of the regular LOL dollhouse. In stores, you may be able to snag the original house, but you may not be able to find one online.
2. This house is designed to fit OMG dolls.
When the original LOL dollhouse came out, OMG dolls didn’t exist. The house is large, but not every aspect of it fit OMG dolls well. The new LOL Home Sweet house is slightly taller than the original house to account for the height of OMG dolls.
In addition, a few items have been redesigned for the 10-inch tall OMG dolls. For example, there is now a bed long enough for an OMG doll to comfortably lay down. Also, two lounge chairs big enough for OMGs have been added to the roof deck. Lastly, the tot-sized bathtub has been replaced with an OMG-friendly shower.
3. It comes with an OMG doll, not tots.
If your little one has been itching to get an OMG doll, LOL Home Sweet dollhouse is her chance. The house comes with OMG doll Uptown, the posh cutie shown above. Uptown was one of the OMG dolls included in Amazing Surprise, the mega 14 LOL doll released in 2019. As part of Amazing Surprise, she was released with her entire doll family from tots to boys to pets. In LOL Home Sweet house, Uptown is included on her own.
The original LOL dollhouse included a new family, The Family Next Door, with a tot, lil, and pet.
If Uptown’s short skirt and fishnet tights are a bit too much for your little one, it’s better to skip LOL Home Sweet house altogether because EVERY house comes with the same doll.
4. There are a few feature improvements.
The first LOL house was, well, the first draft. There have been at least 3 other houses released between that one and Home Sweet Home dollhouse, so there have been some improvements along the way:
- The pool patio has a better lining to prevent water from damaging the rest of the wooden house.
- There’s a cool grill for the patio.
- A bunk bed piano for tots is included in addition to the OMG bed.
- There’s a cute tv.
- The back has a mall scene, rather than just being blank.
- Overall, the wood and plastic quality is higher.
5. LOL Home Sweet Dollhouse is slightly cheaper than the LOL dollhouse.
As of February 2021, the retail price of a new, original LOL dollhouse is a bit more than $200. We’ve consistently seen the retail price of Home Sweet in the $179-$189 range, but prices will probably come down a bit later. Considering that Home Sweet is newer and comes with an OMG doll usually sold for $22 to $25, there’s some value here.
