1. What is LOL Surprise Remix Hair Flip?
LOL Surprise Remix Hair Flip is a LOL Surprise! tots doll series released by LOL doll maker MGA Entertainment. They are called “Hair Flip” because the hair changes color or texture when your little one gets it wet. This series has some of the first dolls for which the hair is actually RECOMMENDED to get wet.
The dolls are part of the Remix series, which is inspired by different music genres including rock, pop, hip & hop, country, and R&B. The back story is that they are all on a tour called the So Extra Tour. Their music has been remixed (since they are from different genres) into one big song. Each doll has a line from the song.
2. This series may not be appropriate for everyone.
If fishnet stockings, short skirts, and bare midriff bother you, you may want to skip this series. There’s lots of “rocker” fashion that pushes it. Therefore, this series may not be appropriate for everyone.
In addition, all of the Hair Flip Remix dolls “color change.” Who knows what you’ll find when they’re dipped in water? Don’t want to risk it…try another series with hair.
But…
The makers of LOL dolls have learned from the recent controversy about the color change. Remix dolls are NOT naked in the package. They are in their color changed outfits, which are now a bit more modest. There are more sleeves, shorts, and half pants.
3. The Remix Hair Flip packaging is a pink and black speaker box.
Yes, box! Normally, LOL dolls come in balls, but Hair Flip dolls come in boxes.
Why?
Because the actual “ball” is a square speaker. It’s part of a boom box your little one can create if she collects the right toys (more on this below).
Keep this speaker because it plays a record that comes with the doll. Very useful!
4. The box features Nae Nae.
The can for this series Nae Nae, the long-haired blond cutie shown above. She wears lots of barrettes in her hair and see-through harem pants.
Why is this important?
Knowing which dolls are on which products also helps you avoid FAKE LOL doll toys that will have a similar look with different dolls.
5. There are 15 surprises for Remix Hair Flip tots.
The big thing about this series is the hair. While there are lots of surprises, we’ll let you decide whether they are as good as the surprises from other series. Accessories vary since they are unique to the style of the doll.

6. There are 12 new tots dolls in Remix Hair Flip.

6. All dolls have the same water surprise.
The collector’s poster shows that all dolls have the color change water surprise. Well, this is and isn’t true.
Yes, all the dolls need to be dipped in water to see their water surprise.
But…
Not all of the dolls have hair that color changes. Some dolls have hair that will change in texture (go from straight to curly).
7. There are no boys in this series…
If your little one doesn’t know about the differences between boys and girls yet, then this series is for you. There are no boys in the series, so there will be no surprises during the unboxing.
8. There are no lil sisters on the current version of the Remix tots poster.
Remix dolls that are available right now don’t have lil sisters as part of their wave on the collector poster.
Perhaps they will come in a Lils series like in some of the other series.
9. The record player plays music but…
After the hair, the functioning record player is the coolest thing about this series. Here’s what you need to know:
- You have to add batteries to the bottom of the record player before you can use it.
- You’ll need 3 AAA batteries and a screwdriver.
- The record doesn’t actually play the music.
- There’s a button on the top of the record player where the record goes. Press that and you’ll hear the music. So…
- You can’t play different records on different players. Since the music actually comes from the box, the music for a particular doll will only come from that doll’s box.
- The music played is in the doll’s genre and about 10 seconds long.
If your little one wants to hear the whole song, she will have to collect ALL the dolls. That’s pretty much impossible because the duplicate probability is high.
10. Your little one needs 2 dolls to build a boombox.
Another cool little add-on and detail for LOL doll lovers. Your little one can build a boombox by collecting two Remix Hair Flip tots and one Remix pet. The pet forms the cassette tape player and boombox handle in the middle. Dolls are the two record playing speakers on the side.
The boombox makes a cool display stand and general display for your little one’s toy shelf. Just don’t expect it to play more music!
11. There is a printable goodie!
